The 5 Types of Heels You Should Own As An Adult

My dad just came to visit for a week along with my boyfriend and the two made one thing very clear: there are many things I am utterly useless in. I pointed my finger at all the things in the apartment that needed fixing: a lightbulb, the toilet, my bed frame, some paintings that needed hanging, and my dad swooped right in and fixed them all in a single day. This would have taken me eight months and a bucket of tears to get through.

But so what if I’m not good at technical things? You know what I am good at? Walking around New York City an entire day in high heels. Yep! I’m that bitch at any wedding who doesn’t need to bring a pair of back up flats ‘cause I will dance in my Jimmy Choo’s all. night. long. I grew up rather ashamed of my height — I’m five-foot-eight and with heels, I can reach close to six feet. But there was a distinct moment in my life where I said screw that: I love high heels so much I’m gonna giraffe over absolutely everyone, no shame. Now, at almost 30, I’ve collected a decent amount of high heels and learned which ones get the most wear. I think as an adult, there are five types of heels you should own in your closet, and they are the following:

A Classic Pump

A Kitten Heel

A Tall Boot

A Short Bootie

A Sandal Heel
