Allow Us to Commence Our BALANCED GIRL ERA
By now, you’ve probably heard of all sorts of “eras”, and no, I’m not referring to Taylor Swifts Eras tour. I’m talking about how TikTok’s spews out one era after another, like the viral soft girl era, or healing girl era, or even the villain era. While on my vacation in the middle of the Austrian alps, I was sitting in my hotel bathtub enjoying a nice relaxed moment when I realized I’ve entered a new stage in my life: the balanced girl era.
What is the balanced girl era?
The balanced girl is equal parts soft as she is driven. It’s working hard while clocked in, but popping a bottle of wine after a long day. It’s eating healthy some days, and going ham on a pizza on others. It’s taking full advantage of vacation days and treating yourself, but also going above and beyond while on the job. It’s taking cute content and capturing precious memories, but also knowing when to disconnect and just be present. It’s showing up for yourself just as much as you show up for your friends. It’s sharing some things with the world, and keeping others just to your precious self.
It’s never fully either or, but a healthy balance of the both. I believe this is the best way to hit all your needs, and make yourself feel rounded and satisfied throughout. Rather than focusing on one grand undertaking — like promising to always be gentle or visiting the gym everyday — you can do both in moderation. Since I’ve entered my balanced girl era, I’ve been reading one to two nights a week, while lifting weights on another three evenings. Some days I spend a little extra time at the park after work and others I come straight home to get cracking on my passion projects. Some mornings I might sleep in and others I’ll wake up early to journal or catch up on some shows. Maybe it’ll take me longer to finish that book, or see the results from my workouts, or reach my goals, but at least I feel calm knowing that slow and steady (with a peaceful mind) wins the race.
