Spring’s Biggest Trend Is Dressing in Head-to-Toe Business Suits

Perhaps I’ve made it a bit of obvious already, but I’m falling deep into the office suiting trend. Whether it’s stocking up on new office siren glasses, bringing back the old pencil skirts, or asking my retired dad for his old neckties, I’m eager — nay — giddy to get my hands on a spring’s biggest fashion trend: smart suiting. Vogue calls it the “New Business Codes”, but it’s essentially going straight into your dad’s stuffy closet from the ‘80s and stealing his matching trouser and blazer set — no tailoring required. It doesn’t stop there, though, because you’re going to need his button down shirt and necktie, too.

This isn’t the first time a Bella Hadid runway moment created such a massive impact (who remembers her spray-on dress for the Coperni SS23 show?). Her return to runway last year as she strutted for the Yves Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2025 show left many of us (especially me) speechless. The French label made us immediately call our fathers and grandfathers, hoping to access their shoulder-padded biker jackets and wear them over our oversized suits. And while 2024 saw a shift back to lowrise pants, YSL has made the case for extra grand high-rise trousers again. The key is just to make sure the blazer matches in color.

Sure, oversized blazers are nothing new to us. But we haven’t quite seen them styled in the way YSL presented it for Spring. It’s adding more volume, more androgyny, and finishing it with a necktie. So how do you recreate the outfit? We have to give thanks to Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello for designing a look that’s relatively easy to replicate. If you’re not already dashing into a thrift store or your older relative’s closet for a suit, then check out any of the below options. You’ll need a fitted button down and a tie, too. Next, slick back your hair and wear some yellow-tinted mafia-esque glasses, and you’re basically runway ready.

Gray and beige were dominant colors during YSL’s SS/25 show, so we’re highlighting this set by Frankie Shop first and foremost.

Re Ona excels at creating lasting wardrobe essentials, and this Joey Suit Trouser is one of their best sellers.

These pants have the perfect oversized cut. Style with some pointy heels and you’re all set.
